I have a 36 inch Viking range (VGIC), and I noticed that one of the ignitors was out. No problem...I fixed this before, and it is an easy replacement. I ordered two ignitors (not OEM) and installed them. Worked like a charm....for about two days. One of the ignitors quickly sizzled out, but the one of the right side continued to work.
I then installed two new, OEM ignitors, but the one on the left wouldn't work....the new one on the right worked fine. I returned the one that didn't work, and received a new one.
Now this is what confounds me. When I installed the new ignitor on the left and connected the wires, neither of them would now glow. So I disconnected the new ignitor that I had just instlled and the ignitor on the right glowed normally, and also the gas would flow and the oven would light.
Why does the power cut off to BOTH ignitors when installing the new one? I thought that perhaps I had bulloxed the wiring connections, but I don't think so.
This, of course, is very frustrating. After a few days with one ignitor working, that one has now stopped working so the oven is totally cold.
Thanks in advance for any help.
