GE bottom mount freezer drain tube freezing up

Ge Bottom mount freeezer drain tube is freezing up contstanly  model #GDS18LBR called the tech line and they did say there was a kit for it but runs cloes to $300 for the part customer doesnt want to spend that has anyone found a better way to fix this problem maybe a inline heater line

If it has the rubber tip where the water comes out cut a V-notch in the rubber so it stays open.
