I have the above mentioned Samsung fridge.  No self-diag codes appear on the front control panel at any time, but I noted heavy frost and ice accumulation on the evaporator coil. I followed the troubleshooting flowchart in the repair manual and the bimetal thermostat, the defrost sensor, and the heater coil all test good.  When put in Manual Defrost Function, the freezer compartment defrosted correctly, but not the fridge compartment. Then I discovered that by switching the F DEF HET and R DEF HET pins on the connector on the Main Control Board DA41-00422A, that the fridge compartment would subsequently defrost and the freezer compartment did not.  It appears that the problem lies on the Main Control Board, but should I troubleshoot to a component (i.e. a bad relay) or just replace the board? Also, the Main Control Board part DA41-00422A does not come up on a search on Repairclinic.com but there is a picture of my exact main control board associated with part number DA41-00413J, but I'm not sure they're compatible.  Thanks for assistance.

Can't remember if there is a thermal fuse on that f/f evaporator.  Problem could be board related.  DA41-00413J is the main pcb but research part using the complete model #.  /XAA?

... if there is a thermal fuse on that f/f evaporator.

doesn't seem to be the problem:

... When put in Manual Defrost Function, the freezer compartment defrosted correctly, but not the fridge
...  by switching the F DEF HET and R DEF HET pins ... on the Main Control Board DA41-00422A

... the fridge compartment would subsequently defrost and the freezer compartment did not.

... part DA41-00422A does not come up on a search on Repairclinic
... DA41-00413J, but I'm not sure they're compatible

where did you get that part number DA41-00422A ?
Service manual lists DA41-00413J

Inside the fridge compartment, there is a sticker that says Model Number RF267ABWP and BOM Number RF267ABWP/XAA.  Regarding a service manual, I have the one that comes up on appliantology.org for Models RF267AE**, RF26XAE**, and several other RF267AEetc. I haven't tracked down one specifically for my Model RF267ABWP, but it seems close enough, however, none of the PCB (or Main Control Board) diagrams at the end of the manual look like my board (see attached).  Regarding the part number of my Main Control Board, on the lower left corner, as viewed with the cover plate removed, the board is clearly marked C/N: DA41-00422A and 163X197 ver 1.1.  Thanks.
