Fisher Paykel washer GWL15. When in agitate the floating basket is rubbing the tub cover and making a scraping noise. I have worked on many of these and have never seen this issue. I know there are some F & P wizzes on here. What do you think is going on?
Fisher Paykel washer floating basket rubbing tub cover

Has the main control been replaced recently? New controls for the Fishy Pickles have to be programmed for that particular model and capacity when replaced. This will affect the fill.

I don't think the fill could cause the problem. The basket will only raise up to a fixed upper limit. If the wash plate nut is tight, and the basket screws holding it to the hub are tight, I would think the tub cover has deformed to cause the rubbing.

I would think the tub cover has deformed to cause the rubbing.
Thanks, Nick. That makes sense. People climbing on top of the washer with their knees to reach things on the shelf above/behind it.

i think the tub cover we are talking about is the plastic tub ring not the actual top of the washer, plus fisher paykles are plastic not metal tops

As per the above the basket (normally) floats upward to a fixed point as anchored by the agitator & nut so fill level is not related to the problem even if the machine size is set wrong on a new/replaced control board.
However, maybe the basket hub anchor screws have stripped loose from the basket base? That could cause it to float too high.
Or check if the tub cover is deformed, maybe an overload or a super-size comforter went to rubbing on it during spin or knocked it partially loose.

i had an aquasmart doing the same thing
but this wasnt the complaint
the complaint was that when agitating there was a noise which i found to be the spline drive cogging against itself
i noticed that the bowl had floated too high and was rubbing against the neckring
a new bowl had the bowl floating at the correct height and noise during wash gone

Can you just replace the basket hub on a FP, or do you have to get the bowl as an assembly?

Comes as an assy. Mind your fingers when handling the outside wall of basket. The term "cheese grater" comes to mind.
its far worse than a cheesegrater :(
you really dont want to get cut from an old dirty bowl full of bacteria
