My washer sounds like someone put a whole deck of playing cards on the tire spokes of my bike!   The pumps work fine and the washer will go through all cycles.  It is not nosier on any specific cycle than the other - just faster or slower.  There is no burning smell.  The cycles all are consistently running at the same, normal speed and one is not slower than it was prior to the noise.  No leaks.

I removed the upper agitator and when I hold it in my hand as it were attached to the agitator base and spin that unidirectional piece on the bottom that snaps into the base it spins freely, but sounds like one of my old skateboard wheels when the German Racing Bearings were shot!  It is supposed to be fairly silent, isn't it?  Is it just a matter of replacing the upper agitator or should the other rings/gaskets/etc be replaced as well (the machine is a 2000 manuf date)?  It does not appear that those two pieces come apart (at least non-violently) and I am not able to locate any separate parts for the upper agitator - is there a bearing in there?

Fantastic website...you are the Master Marketer!

Upper agitator comes as an assembly.  As long as lower agitator is secure to shaft splines just replace upper agitator.
