Hi everyone

 

Has anyone replaced a touchpad on one of these microwaves?

 

I had one the other day with the SE (shorted key) error code so I knew it needed the touchpad.

 

My parts supplier offered either touchpad only or control panel assembly which wer both priced reasonably.

 

I thought I would save my customer some money and replace just the touchpad.

 

Bad Idea.

 

When you pull off the old touch pad the adhesive backer stays behind and is almost impossible to remove.

 

I spent at least a 1/2 hour trying to scrape and clean the old adhesive off of one of these the other night.

 

I advise replacing the whole control panel which is priced very reasonable.

 

Live and learn.

That's pretty much the same with any microwave.
"Suds are not good"

"Make sure you're using it right before you say it's not working correctly"
"If if has a Diagnostic Test Cycle, Run it before and after you fix it!"

I've been doing this for 20 years and never saw one as bad as this.

Service Flash on this model says you have to replace the ASSEMBLY CONTROL BOX to fix -SE- errors, also says they no longer sell just the touchpad due to "quality issues" when just the touchpad was replaced. Hmmmmm

Touchpad and control board assembly:  $65 + five minute repair, budda-bing, budda-boom, done.

Touchpad membrane:  $30 + Half an hour of your life wasted along with a less robust repair and increased likelihood for a callback
