Control Board on top of Unit has water in plastic housing, which shorted out the main board. Has anyone seen this leak on a LG fridge before.

I have never heard of it and I did not find any bulletin relating to this issue for your model. From looking at the manual, water lines apparently flow through the bottom hinge and not under the top hinge. It may be possible that the line in the back I believe running to an icemaker or filter could have a spurting leak that bounces off the walls or cabinet then on top of the fridge. But I would imagine the pcb housing to be relatively water tight. If not water tight, then anything like spilled liquid stored in a bottle on top of the fridge could cause it.
Other possibilities include anything from condensation to sabotage by a disgruntled former or soon to be former spouse. I can't imagine that a leaking capacitor would cause that much liquid, if in fact the board uses an electrolytic capacitor ('cause I be talking way above my pay grade). In essence, I have no earthly idea.

Unable to verify the leak. Water filter housing was disassembled and 1/2 gallon of water was ran thru the system. No leaks. No cracks in the ceiling of the refrigerator etc. WEIRD. This was a previous customer.
