I'm working on a Kenmore 417.42142100 (Frigidaire) frontload washer. While troubleshooting the control board in the back one my test leads made contact with the body and I saw an early firework show ( Didn't trip the breaker or melt my lead, completely). Unfortunately it locked the door and is remaining this way. I drained the water out manually. My question is this....How do get the door open on this washer. I know the door latch must be toast, but how do I do it without breaking the entire door? Thanks for the help.

have you tried unplugging the Power Cord from the Wall Outlet and then waiting a few minutes ?

I tried that Reg, left it off for at least five minutes and it remained locked.

I was finally able to get back to this washer today. It hadn't been plugged in for the last two weeks. I pulled on the door and found.....still locked. I ended up removing the lower panel, disconnected the wiring and started breaking the door latch. After I broke enough off I was able to open the door. It looked like the plate that the solenoid pulls forward to lock the door had become welded to the solenoid itself. Glad it was a model with a kick panel to remove.
