All Appliantology tech members are invited to join in this workshop on all things Appliantological: bidness, customers, tools, troubleshooting, flavorite brewski, whatever. Webcams and microphones are open and live!
This workshop is also a great time for any students at Master Samurai Tech to bring any and all questions about the coursework. We're happy to walk through any concepts you're having trouble with. Think of it like office hours with your teachers.
If you have a specific appliance problem you'd like us to talk about, post it here! We need a problem statement and a PDF of the tech sheet or schematic so we can all see it on screen share. If you have a PDF that isn't already in the File library here at Appliantology, send it to us by attaching it to the contact form.
Also, follow this Calendar Event so you'll get notified of new posts here. Look for the "Follow" button either at the top of the topic on desktop or below the topic on mobile.

Can you suggest a text, or tech teaching book

I can't post yet in the teaching forum.  Is there a text book, or tech book that teaches some basics on appliances, showing symbols of switches used, mechanical break down of parts.  I have Industrial maintenance background, with electrical training.  When I look at a dryer timer table I can figure out some of it but need to brush up.  Trying to find a good book.  Thanks. An example of my trouble; Looing at a fridge diagram the other day and it showed switches that looked like three wires connected to a switch on the damper,  Looked to me like limit switches, I have no idea where they are,  The temp control for the fridge compartment was bad, and was not shutting down the damper.  Figured that out from info and reading.  Still I want to know where the switches are located, in motor? in temp control, or is there aux switches some where  else?  The wiring diagram just says or shows they are there but does not show where..  Mod# 253.53713301 was the fridge by the way.

Just looked at the diagram on this.  Damper motor switches, shown in the open position is written on the top.  Where are the switches located?  Are the in the motor?

We are glad that you are visiting the site. To ask questions concerning appliance repair not directly related to a specific appliance, requires that you become an apprentice.

This question should be posted in the General Appliance Repair Forum but since you are not an apprentice, you cannot start a topic there. Therefore, your post should be deleted. But it being such a beautiful morning, I am reminded of an old chinese proverb ... to paraprhase:

"if the sun in all its glory shines its life giving light on even the greenest of grasshoppers, who am I to refuse to let a little bit of the Samurai's light fall upon thee? "

Check out this info http://appliantology.org/topic/3475-understanding-tech-sheets/

the linked topic provides further links and downloads which you may or may not have permission to obtain. Remember, all I said was " a little bit of the Samurai's light."

btw there are some good programs you can get for your DROID or iPhone. Every Circuit Simulator, allows you to examine and create your own circuits. Electrodroid is an amazing reference tool, it includes every type of electronics calculator imaginable, circuit symbols, pin outs.. and has a direct link to Every Circuit. Wagmob's Electronics made simple is also a great little program. It has flash cards and tests to check out what you've learned.
