This is a glitch from when we migrated from the old forum software.  People with accounts at that time cannot see the subscription options in the here.  The easy work around is to simply create a new account here.  Let me know if you need me to free up the email address associated with your current account if you'd like to use it with your new account.

Yes please.  I'd rather not be a lowly Grasshopper any more.  I can't even *Like* your post as I've reached my whatever Limit I didn't have for the day :)

I've freed-up the email address you had associated with your username, allowingtoo.  You can now create another account with a different username using that same email address.  The subscription options should then show up for you.

Well I'm not going to change horses in mid stream, so to speak - until I get this Freezer sorted out.  I'm logged in with FB anyway.

not sure if you got it. but the video is for models that don't have your control. If you havd your control, simply follow the diagnostic tests. Now be real careful, on some GE models if you use the defrost test, it will not come out of defrost mode until you press defrost mode again (it toggles). According to GE, nothing else will stop defrost. I assume not even unplugging the fridge. I know of one occasion where I did not toggle out of defrost and the fridge did nothing, even after I exited defrost, reset the board or unplugged the fridge until I did the defrost test again. On models where this occurs, a notation is made beside the defrost test.

That Video scared me.  I'm hesitant to try it.

I thawed out the coils and plugged it back in.  I thought it would go back to the automatic 0 - 35 mode.  It's showing 60 - 60.

Did I do something wrong?  I pressed Turbo Cool and it came on though.

Duh - I kept hitting that coupon Like This button and it said I had reached my quota of positive votes for the day.  So I kept giving up.  Tried it in Chrome and FF.  Finally finally saw the little blue f Facebook Like button underneath :)  and that worked.  No wonder I couldn't get that coupon to show up on my FB page.  No Blonde jokes please.

Well the coils are about 2/3 frosted.  It was stuck on 55 and turbo and 50 or something.  I talked DH into pulling the fridge back out so I could do the unplug and pray thing again.  After about 5 minutes or so - I plugged it back in and the freezer showed 29 and the fridge showed 49.  I knew it had to be cooler than 55 with it all frosty like that.  It certainly felt cooler in the freezer than that.

I can post another picture of the coils if anyone is interested.  They are just frosted from the bottom up pretty evenly - but not all the way to the top.

I was just thinking about posting a picture link.  By the way.  You know you can enlarge the picture with the little plus sign in the top left hand corner.  And then drag the photo up and down to see all of it.  You guys probably know all that.

Temp is 17 for the freezer and 35 for the fridge.

test the defrost circuit. If it comes on or shows continuity (depending on what test you perform) replace/test thermistor. Then ultimately board.

That would be this one, right?  I watched the video 3 times.  I sent it to DH and asked him to watch it.  Now - I watched it with CC.  He watched it with sound and said it sounded like 2 people talking at the same time and he couldn't understand it.

Is it written down anywhere how to do this?

... sounded like 2 people talking at the same time

any video will do that if you start a video while another (or same one) is already playing

I know it's in the service manual.  Which is why I've been trying to obtain a new User name so I can download one.  Fortunately Google finally gave one up from another ((cough cough)) forum.  I'm looking at the 9072 Artica Profile.  They have several others - is there a better one?
