So wife and I are going to purchase a new washer and dryer. I just so happen to work at SEARs and can get a 10% discount. This week they happen to be running a deal on their kenmore elite washer and dryer model #'s 31522 and 61522. Is this a good set? I have now and old direct drive kenmore washer and love it (have had the hole washer apart in our apartment living room becuase it was so easy to reapir), I am sure this washer even though direct drive is not the same nor will it have the longevity of this washer dryer set. Any info on washer's and dryers, the wife really wants the sanitize feature (guess you need to internal water heater??).
Thanks for the replies.

If nothing is wrong with your direct drive washer, I would not get rid of it. It will probably last longer than any new machine you were to buy.

Yes fairbank56 that is the washer dryer bundle, I will get the model numbers when I go to work. Sorry I'm used to the SEAR's model numbers now. I know about my washer I love it because of the direct drive simplicity(that's why its going in the shop for now, will have to figure how to drain the pump before). However I was told before the baby comes that the wife wants a new washer and since she doesn't ask for much and SEAR's is a second job for a little while longer I figured I would get her something before I lose the 10% discount. Any other washer's particulary that are worth it these days? I would like a top load HE washer, but after doing a little more research today there's a lot of bad reviews about them (not getting the clothes clean, poor quality, bad parts, the list goes on...) Thanks for the replies so far, it all helps trust me.

Sears doesn't use the complete model number in their stock numbers.

Model number is found on the actual appliance.

I like LG products. They seem to be holding up well.

I know you can get fired for it nowadays, but the dumpster out back is your best bet.I find the nicest washers there!

Yeah we've had some nice stuff go real cheap on closeout, bought a brand new push mower with bagger and key start for 50 bucks. Just gotta be there at the right time! As for the dumpster my new manager is a turd and makes us throw stuff in the dumpster and crush it!! Bye bye 500 dollar grill with a scratch and chainsaws and to much else to mention, it's sad really.

reminds me of a shoe store

they used to cut-up the discontinued / returned / etc. shoes before putting in dumpster

rather than donating them to the homeless..

People would try to return for refund or exchange ...
