795.75543401 Door harness

8 posts in this topic

Bought this unit used knowing the display was bad. Replaced display board and main board and found the display was still non functional. Ohmed out the harness and found the black wire from the connector at the door hinge to the display conector had no continuity. Gently pulled up on the harness and black wire broke about two inches inside the door. How in the world does one get the harness out to repair or replace? Thank you, Matthew.

I'm not sure of a good way to do this. I cannot tell from the diagram if a new harness can be threaded through the door. If all else fails, you can try to thread an individual wire to replace the black wire and connect it directly bypassing the harness. To do this you may have to sacrifice another wire, cutting it from the harness, securely tying two new wires on it, cut the sacrificed wire from the hinge connector and pull it and the wires tied to it through the door. This will only work if the wires are separated inside the door. if not, you may have to thread the entire harness if possible.

There may be a better way, but this is all I can come up with at 4:45 am and without actually looking at the door. Hopefully someone else has had more experience with this type of repair and will chime in.

Not repairable by "normal" methods.

Replace the DOOR.

Is this LG made and how do you find out? As i bought it for 60$ and have a total of about 300$ in it with spare boards, I'm willing to dissassemble the door to fix the harness before I replace the door. The unit is a spare as of now. Has anyone done this before?

The door cannot be disassembled.

It's an LG.  The door is an assembly.  Certain dispenser parts are replaceable but the wire harness is manufactured into the door.  Even if this unit was still under first year warranty and experienced a damaged wire harness the only acceptable fix was to replace the door.

An update! The new door assembly arrived today, however, the water line was not installed. I assume that I can remove the current one and install on the new door. It looks like 8 miles of water line in a compartment in the lower door. what is the best way to r&r this line into the new door? Thank you for any sugestions.

If you have a new door , you can experiment on the old door................Pull the 'in door dispenser' assy., get down to the foam and wire harness......I replaced a wire harness on a Frigggy freezer by cutting the old wire connector off ( save as much wire as possible on the connector end )  and using 1/4 copper tubing............Force the tubing from the hinge end towards the opening.............Takes time.......When the tubing appears into the dispenser opening, attach a new set of wires ( i do not know how many wires  you need )..............From the dispenser end, pull the new wire cable back thru the hinge...........if there is not enough wire length on the old connector, the one removed at the start  ,  Remove the other half of the connector....  solder and heat shrink the wire harness's together.......Take some purty pictures of the repair.................I got pictures of the repair I did  but I gotta chase some greenbacks.............................. Good job for the weekend.....................
