<<<in normal cycle does not seem to heat water, is this normal?>>>

**********

The LG 5811 dishwasher uses the Heating Element---only during *Main Wash* and *Final Rinse*.

In the *Normal Cycle*---the Main Wash occurs around the middle of the cycle---and the Final Rinse at the end of the cycle.

The Heating Element is not used at any other time during the entire cycle.

Other Things To Consider...

All LG 5811 dishwashers have the not-so-good Sump Assy (6871DD1002B)

Nearly all fail with symptoms ranging from:

Noisy During Wash

Poor Wash Performance

Intermittent/Permanent "LE" error

If the Sump Assy has not been replaced/upgraded---that's where I'd start (AJH31248604)

Also...

Verify that the customer has a standard Water Heater.

Tankless Water Heaters are always a problem for LG (and doubtless many other brands) dishwashers---as far as Cleaning Effectiveness/Consistency.

To eliminate:

Musty odor

L-O-N-G cycle times

Dingy/yellowing whites

Suds error message

Slow spin speeds

Intermittent water leaks (from rear of washer)

And other annoying symptoms which vary brand-to brand.

Read below:

The *correct* amount of HE (High Efficiency) detergent that should be used in any front load or agitatorless top load washer with tub sizes 3.0 cu ft and larger is as follows:

HE: (2) Tablespoons Per Wash Load

HE 2X: (1) Tablespoon

HE 3X: (1) Teaspoon

Perform a TUB CLEAN CYCLE every (4) months.

Use: "Tide Washing Machine Cleaner"

Reg and john63,

Outstanding info.! This will help a lot.

Additional symptom of this machine is a high pitched squeal occasionally in wash cycle, I heard it when the kick plate and insulation was removed.

Sump sounds like the culprit here.

Thanks for the help. :thanks:
