Hello,

My maytag fridge has a defrost problem (freezer cold but fridge is warm). Rather than simply buying a new board ($141.5), I decide to debug the board itself. So far, I know there are two Omron relays that may be relevant.

G2RL-1A4-E-CF (16A/24V) SPST for compressor.

G5Q-1A4 (10A/24V) SPST for defrost heater.

I know my defrost heater and terminator are good but the heater does not get energized (measuring voltage between white and orange wires of J1 on the Jazz board) when I put the board under forced-defrost mode. Same result when measuring between orange and brown wires. This means no voltage drop across the terminator.

My guess is that the defrost relay is dead or the transistor which drives the relay failed but not 100% sure yet. Does anyone have a schematic for the JAZZ board or have a similar experience? Which part was broken on yours?

Make/Model = Maytag/MFF2558VEM4

JAZZ Board = TH172

                       JAZZ-Rev M

When the fridge is in forced defrost mode, the compressor stops but the evaporator wouldn't defrost. I had to use a hair drier to do it manually.

I just replace the boards. With the jazz board, I would do my customers a disservice by repairing them. The boards are readily available, relatively cheap and easy to install.
