No operation except control panel flashes on and off a few times then goes dead.  Main board makes high pitch whine but nothing works except lights.  Assuming main board but wonder if control panel could be faulty.  Any thoughts?

more than likely it is the main board. Buy it from repairclinic so you can send it back, just in case.

My understanding is that it is no longer available and has to be sent to whirlpool to be reconditioned.
