Viking DDBB363G - Fridge too warm (40+ degrees)

5 posts in this topic

Just bought a house with an 11 year old Viking DDBB363G - freezer is fine, however, the fridge seems "warm" - the coldest it gets, even on the lowest setting, and with MAX REF working is ~40 degrees - it drifts to as high as 46/47 degrees when MAX REF isn't on...

anything i need to look at, change, vacuum, etc?

thanks in advance

Check Freezer temp by putting thermometer in a glass of water overnight.

May seem cold but might not be cold enough.

The condenser fan blows onto the condenser coils which get pretty dusty on these guys.

The Coils need to be cleaned thoroughly and make sure the condenser fan is blowing.

Home inspector didn't catch this?

negative - wasn't mentioned - freezer actually seems TOO cold (-5 degrees)

where are the coils to vacuum actually?  i'm used to subzero, which you can vacuum out from the top easier - the top of this seems very thin - not much in there.

thanks in advance

Condenser is located in the top unit.  Using an extended 1/4 nut driver w/magnetic tip remove the 4 screws that fasten the grille in place and lift the grille up and away.  There is a master switch on the bottom of the housing on the right hand side to turn unit off for cleaning.  Check the evaporator frost pattern and evaporator fan motor operation for proper air flow.
