All Appliantology tech members are invited to join in this workshop on all things Appliantological: bidness, customers, tools, troubleshooting, flavorite brewski, whatever. Webcams and microphones are open and live!
This workshop is also a great time for any students at Master Samurai Tech to bring any and all questions about the coursework. We're happy to walk through any concepts you're having trouble with. Think of it like office hours with your teachers.
If you have a specific appliance problem you'd like us to talk about, post it here! We need a problem statement and a PDF of the tech sheet or schematic so we can all see it on screen share. If you have a PDF that isn't already in the File library here at Appliantology, send it to us by attaching it to the contact form.
Also, follow this Calendar Event so you'll get notified of new posts here. Look for the "Follow" button either at the top of the topic on desktop or below the topic on mobile.
Who: This workshop is only available to tech members at Appliantology.
When: Saturday, March 30 @10:00 AM Eastern Time.
      Where: Online via Zoom

dead meaning no lights, compressor etc? if so check the power line to and from the mainboard.

Bro Reg, just curious  I see on Sears site this fridge has an inverter board for startup and also has a start relay. Is this diagram simply covering multiple models.....(awaiting wiring diagram as well) Do tell?

Start Relay ...

I don't see an Inverter, nor at Sears

location no 27 in Unit section part no W10356137

it also comes up at repair clinic as "start device." I think it's a mislabeling. Sites call it an inverter/start device but I see a used one listed as an "LED power supply". Must be the latter. It must invert power from ac to dc for the LED's and since it is near the compressor the labeling of inverter/start device is an error born out of an assumption.

If it is an LED controller and it controls all lights as well as interface, then I wonder if a failed Controller can lead to a "dead" machine.

I did get it working, the connector was loose on the board

The fridge that I have doesn't have an inverter (unless they hid it somewhere), but did have a box by the comp that was to control the led's

yeah that's what i figured.  Sears,  repair clinic  et al  have it wrong.  Then again,  it would not surprise me if Whirlpool  sent them the wrong info.

I am glad though because it was making my head explode.

I found out that the door hinges were bent so the light switches in the freezer weren't being pushed. I'm not sure is that was the "dead" problem. At first I thought that plug coming out of the board was loose, because the fridge came alive, but then it happened again when I unplugged it and plugged it in, then I found out about the light switch not being activated. So now I'm keeping an eye on it.
