viking vgic ignition failure -- oven and broiler not lighting

5 posts in this topic

I have a Viking VGIC530-4BSS that is less than 3 years old. Oven and broiler worked fine until a couple days ago.

Now: turning knob to fire up either function doesn't work: the oven/broil indicator light works, but nothing gets ignited. There is no clicking or ticking to indicate that the igniters are working.

I borrowed a buddy's multimeter and I'm trying to find a service manual for this oven to determine how to test the thermostat, but I"m not finding anything.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks. John

Most likely a open high limit switch.

Jumptrout - thanks for the quick reply.

After some googling, I"m finding high limit switches for other versions of viking ovens, but I'm not seeing one for the VGIC series. Is this a switch that all gas ovens have?

Also: how can I locate and test this switch?

John

I misinterpreted what you wrote.

If other functions work eg; fans lights etc the high limit is OK.

If just Bake and Broil do not operate it can be the oven control or spark module.

The manual is on file at this site, but you must upgrade your status to access it.
