I have a Kitchenaide KSRA22ILSS13 side by side refrigerator and it has had a long term problem of temperature control with the freezer getting way to cold and eventually building up a block of ice on the bottom. I then defrost and start again and it is good for a few months and then repeat. Well now I came down in the morning and it is off and will not go back on. I fear!

Oh my simple solution after too many hours trying to figure it out...a small rat bite in the power cord....sigh...

Good job finding that and be happy thats all the was damaged. I've seen rats literally make appliances ready for the junkyard.

Now with that said, that would have nothing to do with the problem with the ice in the bottom of the  freezer.  Are you sure you're having a problem with the temperature control?
