Went out on this one yesterday. Complaint: DOA and lid lock stuck locked, holding clothes hostage. Raised the top and tugged the lid lock string to liberate the clothes. The more vexing problem is the DOA.
I went there with a noise filter, expecting it to be bad. Sho nuff, it was. Replaced it and now getting power to the main PCB but still no lights on the control panel, no action. Only action is now when you press the power button, you hear a relay click on the main PCB.
Also, the LED on the main PCB is not lit.
I neglected to check for 5vdc between the main PCB and the display board.
- Is the LED on the main PCB used as a self test/all-okay signal like on the Whirlpool VMW machines? If so, is the fact that the LED was out a conclusive indication that the main PCB is bad?
- How diagnostically important is the 5vdc test between the main PCB and the display board?
- The fact that the noise filter AND something else (possibly the main PCB or maybe the display board) are bad bothers me. It's unusual for two parts to fail at the same time. Does this indicate that something else fried and took these boards out: door lock, drain pump, etc?
Thanks for any tips!
