Model number LFX28978sb/00. I purchased this fridge used for 390 delivered from a rehabber. It has two dime sized dents on door and it's black. So he claimed selling to replace with stainless for max resell on the home.  I received on Dec 26, 2013.  It was running great until last thursday. Noticed melting ice about 5 pm. Left hubby at home to keep an eye on it. He got very ill and developed a fever while I was not home. Fridge must have felt sympathy. Temps in both compartments continued to rise. It was 40 degrees in freezer and 60 in frig at 10 pm when I returned home. Unplugged for two days and waited for a tech that I trust. He is not going to be in my area for a couple of weeks. He moved away but returns occasionally to area.

When I was first looking online great reviews and no troubles but now am looking again and see a few posts on other boards of circuit board or fan issues. 

If this is a lemon, please tell me, would like to cut my losses. I do not want to throw out good money after bad.  

Love layout, bright led lights, easy glide doors, and fruit drawers. Freezer on bottom was main selling point due to loved ones health issues. Top frig is easier for him to access.

LG says 250 for repair of closed system or compressor with 90 day warranty on repair. 89 for diag. If I'm going to repair seems that going with appliance repair link here with longer warranty would make more sense.

 

On to possibly beating this unit into shape with your awesome knowledge.

Serial number is 007KREL00036 Model number LFX28978sb/00. There are no error messages on control board that I can see. When I press temp buttons they seem to respond normally. I set at 36 and 0 per lg request. There is a symbol of an electrical plug with an e inside. It has been on since I have owned the unit. When I plugged in for two hours today the trutemp gauge for both the freezer compartment and the fridge compartment was 70 degrees. I can hear a humming sound. It is louder when doors are open.

I saw the flow chart. How do I check to see if the fan is on? I glanced at bottom of fridge when delivered and on the dolley. The back and sides were clean. It was been in my house barely two weeks so fairly sure still clean enough to not have a build up on the compressor. It is not set in a cabinet and is set an couple of inches from the wall.

check to see if your compressor is running.
