I have a frigidaire washer that goes through all the cycles but fails to spin. the motor will run but the basket fails to spin. I can manually turn the basket sometimes and get it to spin but it will not spin by itself. i have not tried a new belt. It is difficult to turn the basket to get it to spin......Feels as though the brake is still on...How do I (or do I) repair it.......................MODEL#GLWS1233ASO

Does the lid lock during the spin cycle?

Yes the lid locks. There seems to not be enough tension on the belt that when it goes into the spin cycle the pulley only spins but does not engage the belt. I have a spring that i will try to see if I can put more tension of the belt.........Maybe this will help............
