The title pretty much says it all.  If left to its own devices, the dryer will go all night.  The clothes are properly dry after about an hour, vent is clear, dryer feels hot.  The problem persists if I switch to a timed dry; the knob does not advance at all.  I've replaced the heating element in the past, but it does seem strange that the timed dry won't work.  Thanks so much in advance!

I suspected that.  Thanks!  You're the best.
