This workshop is also a great time for any students at Master Samurai Tech to bring any and all questions about the coursework. We're happy to walk through any concepts you're having trouble with. Think of it like office hours with your teachers.
If you have a specific appliance problem you'd like us to talk about, post it here! We need a problem statement and a PDF of the tech sheet or schematic so we can all see it on screen share. If you have a PDF that isn't already in the File library here at Appliantology, send it to us by attaching it to the contact form.
Also, follow this Calendar Event so you'll get notified of new posts here. Look for the "Follow" button either at the top of the topic on desktop or below the topic on mobile.

Dead unit. Only interior lights are working. I searched the site before posting this request.

Ok, Watson, let's put our sleuthing hats on...

Did you perform a wildcard search kfis* or Kfis2* in the dl section (of course you would know to do this based on the search techniques The Samurai showed in the screencast video we all watched)

If you did, you would have found Kfis25xvm info... surprisingly similar numbers..hmmmmmm... maybe the 20 and the 25 in the model numbers only reflect differences in size? Maybe It's worth checking out.

Next step would be to check to see if the mainboard and interface are the same using Appliancepartspros or searsdirect etc

Are they the same? If the mainboard and interface are the same, wouldn't it follow that the tech sheet is sufficiently similar?

A little bit of sleuthing can yield great results. It may take a bit of leg work but it is quite easy, or should I say "it's elementary, my dear Watson."

Bro Bryan, thanks for the manual.. or tech sheet (make sure to describe the documentation in the upload form) but this was a teaching moment to help Sunrise ad well as others learn to utilize the search and dl section better.

The tech sheet you linked is for the 25 cf models like those in the dl section.. but if Sunrise does his research he would have found this http://appliantology.org/files/file/1489-kitchenaid-refrigerator-kfis25xv-tech-sheet-and-parts-list/ which includes a note and link to a full manual.

Also he could have found compatible service bulletins that may apply to his situation Furthermore, knowing the kfis25xv models are compatible, he can then use that number to do a forum research and find discussions that may be of help.

But please KEEP PROVIDING MANUALS AND TECH SHEETS. Your help in this forum is invaluable to say the least! We know it takes time to upload information and it benefits us all. So on behalf of all the brethren here... Thanks!

Ah. That was straight from Whirlpools page so I thought maybe it was the same as the one on that particular fridge. What do I put as a description in the upload? I just put the model # because I don't know the fridge size by the model on this. I'm guessing the 25 is the cubic ft. Is that what I put in the description? I've never really paid attention to cubic ft anyway because I was spoiled at Sears and had just about every manual on my computer lol.

In all honesty, I have a packet I got from the NASC convention with a couple of the newer refrigerator tech sheets and I typically use that for reference since they are pretty much the same. Also for those who may not know the tech sheets are in the top right hinge on most french doors. I didn't know that until the convention either

So the first four characters are what really defines the appliance? While in the downloads section I searched for Kfis20* without success. I included the cubic feet part of the number because I thought, if a different size, it could significantly change the design. Good to know that is not the case.
