All Appliantology tech members are invited to join in this workshop on all things Appliantological.
We have a special session planned for this one. Instead of the usual Show 'n Tell on a technical topic, we're going to post tech sheets in the comments to this Calendar Event (scroll down to see what's posted so far) and ask specific questions that can only be answered by reading the tech sheet. If you at least try to answer the questions beforehand, you'll get a lot more out of it. The tech sheet and the questions are posted in the comments section below.
Your mission, if you should choose to accept it, is to check out the questions for each one and try to answer them ahead of time. Then come to the Dojo to see how well you did!
Who: This workshop is only available to tech members at Appliantology.
When: Saturday, April 27 @10:00 AM Eastern Time.
      Where: Online via Zoom
      How:
Click here to go to the forum topic with the registration link. If you're interested, register now. Arrive a couple minutes early to make sure your connection is working. Set a reminder for yourself for this workshop so you don’t miss it.  And check out past workshops here: https://appliantology.org/announcement/33-webinar-recordings-index-page/

You can narrow down your search by including more characters in your model number. For example, you could search "LDF755*"

If ldf* gave you too many and ldf7551st did not give you anything, you then must increase/decrease your search string. Once you get a reasonable number of results (hopefully only one), then you must click on the link to see if the file description covers your model. If the description doesn't state your model, download the manuals and look at them directly for compatibility.

Sometimes this takes a bit of work, but this is part of what we do when fulfilling a model request.

good job but did you learn how to find the manual? Ignore learning proper search techniques to your peril.

Yes I've been getting manuals but I wasn't sure if

the one that was downloaded was for the dishwasher

I was working on.

Now I'm looking for the tech sheet or service manual

for a GE Cooktop.

MOD # PP989DNBB couldn't find anything for this.

When I put in PP* it wasn't ge cooktop.

any ideas.

Thanks

The concern we had was you stated you only did two searches. If you continued the searching by adding letters you would have received this manual http://appliantology.org/files/file/1919-lg-ldf8072st-dishwasher-service-manual/

Although the title shows a different model, if you looked at the file description you would have seen this:

LDF8072ST Service Manual

MODELS:

LDF8574 (WW,BB,ST)

LDF8072 (WW,BB,ST)

LDF7561 (WW,BB,ST)

LDF7551 (WW,BB,ST)

LSDF9962 (WW,BB,ST)

LDS6040 (WW,BB,ST)

PUB MFL37554810

So if you had searched properly, you would not have asked if the model was compatible... based upon the file description, it's quite obvious that manual was not only compatible, but was the exact manual for your model. So by not finding that easily-located manual, we rightfully suggested you work on your search technique.

Please create another manual request for the cooktop.... and don't forget, you can always search for the type of appliance to augment your search... ie.. i googled your model number and discovered it was a ge downdraft cooktop... so I searched for "GE downdraft cooktop" ... there is a file, not sure if it is compatible .... you may have to compare the models on Searspartsdirect or Appliancepartspros.. and see if they use the same control, etc. That is what we do when someone asks if a manual is compatible. Going through this takes a lot of work on our part so explaining how we do it can relieve some of our massive workload as well as allow you to obtain your manual faster.
