I have a maytag epic dryer 9800. If you go in diag all lights work and beep. When you open door it reads E3.

E3 error code is displayed: If the E3 error code is displayed, there is a user interface or software mismatch. It is also possible that a component on the console electronics or the machine control electronics has failed. Check button functioning before replacing the machine control electronics.

 

Pull the tech sheet from the machine and follow instructions for diagnostics.

 

Has the user interface or control board been replaced?
