Used a hairdryer to thaw out icemaker and tube (worked before) but still not operating. Also the LED on the right side of unit is unlit/off. Any suggestions?

Sounds like you will need the emitter/receiver kit, but you probably have more problems. However we can go no further without the model and serial numbers as their are several different ice systems for the Whirlpool/KitchenAid/Roper/Kenmore Ref. lines. The emitter/receiver kit is probably the main problem, however since you indicated you had to thaw the ice from the ice maker and thru tube we need to see which system your frig uses. Some of these have repair kits needed to solve the ice-up thru tube, especially if this is the ice in the door design. Pegi

Cannot find that exact model number, just close. However we need to know if this has the ice in the door system or if the ice bin is located inside of the freezer instead of in the freezer door.

The fridge is a large (25 sq ft ?) side by side door model with water and ice despenser built in the door. It has an on/off switch on the right hand side of the ice maker that looks like the GE TYPE i think i saw on this forum somewhere. The manual (what a joke) has a number printed on the lower left hand corner on the cover page #2254906 and am not sure if that helps any.

Yes, there is a service update from Whirlpool about a repair kit for the fill tube freezing up, will have to install a heater kit for this problem. Am not sure if this is something you will want to tackle yourself, but is your choice. You might want to hire a service sompany to do this repair. Pegi
