Delonghi Portable AC PAC AN125HPEC Exclamation Point!?

My Delonghi portable A/C will not run.  It just displays an "!".  It will start for 2 seconds and then quit with the ! display.  The filter is clean, the water has been released from the reservoir, it is plugged in.   What the heck does the ! mean????  No help from the manual.
