Kenmore Direct Driver, Won't agitate, but will spin, clicking

I disassembled the washer, and removed the pump, then the motor, the coupler was somewhat worn (not enough to affect it) but I replaced the coupler anyways, didn't fix it. I then tested the beast without the pump on... Same result. Then I took the motor off again and ran it on the floor, it turns fine. I tested the capacitor as suggested in a couple of the posts, that seems fine.
If I provide some resistance to the agitator (i.e. hand on it), the clicking speeds up.
Anyone got any ideas what to check next? Or what have I missed?

where I had the same wires, it checks out fine [otherwise I'm just missing some wires for example Violet and White-orange]
This sounds more like a relay clicking, than a mechanical issue, and the clicking is definitely coming from the motor area. I'm suspecting the controller it foo-bar'ed somehow, but how does one investigate that?
