All Appliantology tech members are invited to join in this workshop on all things Appliantological.
We have a special session planned for this one. Instead of the usual Show 'n Tell on a technical topic, we're going to post tech sheets in the comments to this Calendar Event (scroll down to see what's posted so far) and ask specific questions that can only be answered by reading the tech sheet. If you at least try to answer the questions beforehand, you'll get a lot more out of it. The tech sheet and the questions are posted in the comments section below.
Your mission, if you should choose to accept it, is to check out the questions for each one and try to answer them ahead of time. Then come to the Dojo to see how well you did!
Who: This workshop is only available to tech members at Appliantology.
When: Saturday, April 27 @10:00 AM Eastern Time.
      Where: Online via Zoom
      How:
Click here to go to the forum topic with the registration link. If you're interested, register now. Arrive a couple minutes early to make sure your connection is working. Set a reminder for yourself for this workshop so you don’t miss it.  And check out past workshops here: https://appliantology.org/announcement/33-webinar-recordings-index-page/

Samsung WF42H5000AW/A2 Failed

This Samsung washer has no response at the control panel.  It does have power at the electronic control board.  My question is how do I determine if the Interface Control Board or the Electronic Control Board has failed?  Also this machine failed after a day when there were many power fluctuations due to a snow/ice storm in the area.

Thanks in advance for any advice from appliance pros.

I would refer to the Fast Track manual and see if you're getting the communications signal and power supply from CN7 on the main board to the sub board (display). It's all called out for you on the Fast Track.

That's one thing I love about Samsung's tech docs-- they give you all the inputs and outputs you need to troubleshoot. We, as technicians, are supposed to already understand the technology we're dealing with and know how to use the information they give us. If you don't know how to do this, fear not-- we teach all that and more at the Master Samurai Tech Academy: http://mastersamuraitech.com/appliance-repair-courses/

Is the tech sheet inside the washer or is it necessary to upgrade membership to have access to this information?

There should be a tech sheet in a plastic pouch taped to the back panel of the washer.

Are you an appliance tech or strictly a DIYer?

Dontcha hate it when installers (or other servicers) steal the tech sheet? Welcome to our world. I never depend on the tech sheet being there so I always download it from here and load it on my ipad before going out on the call.

I have never seen a tech sheet on the back of a Samsung washer. Maybe the installers always take them but my knowledge was that Samsung never included them. Big ol pain if you're a DIYer

They're putting them there on newer models (3 years and newer). Have seen it many times on warranty calls. And it's a tech sheet, not a Fast Track. Slightly different information.

Yes thanks. This unit is 1-1/2 yrs old.  I am searching the net for Fast Track and Tech sheet.  I have recovered PCB Inverter, PCB Main and Control Board.  I have removed them from the unit because the washer is located at my daughter's house and I cannot camp out there all day trying to figure this out.

I doubt I can diagnose these separate from the washer.  I may just try to replace the likely culprit(s).  I will still come out ahead of calling for service even if I replace a good component.  That being said, would you venture a guess as to which one has failed and needs replacing?

Thanks for your professional opinion.

Before u removed the main board, did you check if the red led was on? My gut shot would be main pcb if not given any other info.
