How to replace freezer switch on LG french 4 door refrigerator

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I have a LG refrigerator model GRB-25ASTJ which looks identical to LG LMC25785SB. The issue we're having with it, sometimes after opening and closing the upper freezer drawer, the refrigerator stops working completely - dead. The only way to bring it back is remove and insert the power cord. I was able to reproduce the issue by pressing and releasing the switch, i guess its faulty. I bought a new switch 6600JB1010H but cant figure how to remove the old one. Can someone guide me please?

Thanks!

Use a flat screw driver or better yet a small flat nylon pry bar.. insert between fridge and switch... press in clip with pry bar (indicated by red arrow)  while prying switch out... does take some effort.

To test switch :

test switch pin pair 1&2...continuity  in normal state...

No continuity when plunger pressed

Do the same for pair 3&4

Btw... thanks for being detailed by providing compatible model number as well as the part number.  Absolute time saver and truly  encourages us to help you that much more.  I can just imagine how much time I would have lost unable to track down your model only to later  find out your model is not for the American market.  Thanks!

Thanks Durham!

I tried that method earlier, but it seems like the switch harness is too short and i cant take it out. I tried to unscrew the two bolts to remove the bridge separating the two drawers, but even with the bolts out, the right side is kinda stuck.

Any help is appreciated!

If you haven't dislodged the switch from the case,  then you need to pry around the switch.. behind it etc.... takes some time and force.. you can carefully warm up the area using a blow dryer...  I did say carefully...   The plastic is probably stiff due to coldness so the heat should make the area more pliable.
