Dacor Oven Bake Element Won't Heat

Recommended Posts

I have a double Dacor MCS230S wall oven.  The bake element in the top oven won't heat up.  The broiler works fine.  I tested the element for continuity and it was fine.  This seems to have happened after a self-cleaning cycle.  I pressed the reset on the high limit thermostat but no joy.   I seem to recall this happening several years ago after a cleaning but, for the life of me, I can't remember what I did to get it running again.

Any help would be much appreciated.

  1. Check the incoming voltage to the unit. There should be 240 volts with a neutral.

  2. Check power at the Dbl (double line relay) from (Com) to neutral. There should be 120 volts incoming to the Dbl.  If voltage is ok, move to step 3.

  3. Program the unit into a bake cycle. Check voltage across Dbl (double line relay) (N.O. side) to BA relay for 240 volts. Refer to picture for test points. If no voltage replace relay board. If you have 240 volts go to step 4.

  4. Check the HTC (high temp cutout) for open circuit. HTC is a NC switch. The HTC is located by the latch assembly and has a re-settable switch. (see picture)

This is pulled straight from Dacor service manual

Thanks for the info.  I'm a bit hesitant to test for 240VDC without the referenced pictures.  If the 4 steps cover all the variables, then it almost has to be the relay board.  I get continuity on the HTC switch.

You would be testing for AC voltage, not DC.

Most likely is the relay control if the HTC is good. Sometimes you can see physical damage on the relay board if you visually inspect it.

Relay board is a good guess but unfortunately a guess without any voltage measurements.

  • 4 weeks later...

It ended up being the relay board. There was no obvious damage to any of the components but the new board solved the problem.

is the old board trash or is there some obscure market for it?

thanks for the help
