All Appliantology tech members are invited to join in this workshop on all things Appliantological: bidness, customers, tools, troubleshooting, flavorite brewski, whatever. Webcams and microphones are open and live!
This workshop is also a great time for any students at Master Samurai Tech to bring any and all questions about the coursework. We're happy to walk through any concepts you're having trouble with. Think of it like office hours with your teachers.
If you have a specific appliance problem you'd like us to talk about, post it here! We need a problem statement and a PDF of the tech sheet or schematic so we can all see it on screen share. If you have a PDF that isn't already in the File library here at Appliantology, send it to us by attaching it to the contact form.
Also, follow this Calendar Event so you'll get notified of new posts here. Look for the "Follow" button either at the top of the topic on desktop or below the topic on mobile.
Who: This workshop is only available to tech members at Appliantology.
When: Saturday, March 30 @10:00 AM Eastern Time.
      Where: Online via Zoom
      How:

Southwest- AZ, NM

This is my refrigerator in NM and I'm in AZ on a project.

Not unusual to have 75 mile trips.

Still looking for diagnostic tips before driving home.

Thanks

Take a motherboard, defrost heater, defrost limit, evap and condenser fan and thermistor with you if you're going that far. And hope you don't have a sealed system issue. Ask if they can send pics of the back wall of the freezer or even better remove the cover and look at the frost pattern.

Sounds like the main board.  Just fixed one yesterday with the same issues there was a burnt place on the backside of the board where the compressor capacitor was.

Replaced the mother board about 7-8 years ago -shorted as you say.

Guess it could have happened again.

I'll bring one with me.

Tanks.

There was a test sequence I got from this board to check the compressor etc. but I can't find it.

The site has changed a little from when two young people were featured in a video for appliance repair.

Been coming here for a little while.

Brought parts albogator suggested.

Arrived 4 pm.  Cabinet lights on, indicator light on icemaker dispenser on, no dispensing, beeps when pressing warmer/cooler on temp display.

Unplugged, plugged in - unit went on. 77F

12hours later - 0 freezer (set point) 32 (set 37).

Diagnostic test- temp control panel to dispenser board fail, all else good.

Dispenser working fine - started making ice, dispenses ice and water.

Have not found information on fixing the temp control panel to dispenser board communication.

Appreciate any advice.

Found a post by DurhamAppliance that explained the fail communication.

Now to check damper and thermistors (since he explained that the test only verifies thermistors are there).

Still wondering what caused power fail.  We are on rural coop, but have been for 16 years.
