All Appliantology tech members are invited to join in this workshop on all things Appliantological: bidness, customers, tools, troubleshooting, flavorite brewski, whatever. Webcams and microphones are open and live!
This workshop is also a great time for any students at Master Samurai Tech to bring any and all questions about the coursework. We're happy to walk through any concepts you're having trouble with. Think of it like office hours with your teachers.
If you have a specific appliance problem you'd like us to talk about, post it here! We need a problem statement and a PDF of the tech sheet or schematic so we can all see it on screen share. If you have a PDF that isn't already in the File library here at Appliantology, send it to us by attaching it to the contact form.
Also, follow this Calendar Event so you'll get notified of new posts here. Look for the "Follow" button either at the top of the topic on desktop or below the topic on mobile.

My gf's washer won't complete a cycle.  the washer and the timer just stop.  sometimes it will attempt to wash/spin but it is only momentarily then it goes into rest mode.  there are NO error codes displayed.

a few years ago i freed up the clutch assembly.  that does not seem to be the problem now.  the inner basket turns freely and after giving it a spin by hand it does another ~6 revolutions before slowing to a stop.  the drain pump works as it can be turned on in service mode.

the tumblers are difficult to rotate and gf says they turned more easily before.  there is also noise when turning the tumblers...kind of a grinding noisy like the bearing(s) are shot or at least very gummed up.

how are the tumbler bearings accessed and could this be the source of the problem.  i know from past experience and reading many posts that the clutch assembly can result in this scenario (but as i said this probably isnt it) but nothing regarding noisy tumblers or bad tumbler bearings being the cause of this issue

TIA for any help

Mark

This machine is toast, grinding bearings means you need new ones! Go buy a used Whirlpool/Kenmore direct drive... Or a new Speed Queen. The Maytag Neptune TL has been abandoned by all manufacturers, it is a doomed system and the sooner you get it replaced, the sooner you can get on with your life. Just please, do not replace it with a Whirlpool Calypso!   :fouetaa:
