Hi Pegi, thanks for replying. The person who asked the question is my dad he's been doing appliance repair for 40 years, but almost all older stuff. The new board stuff is a different world to him, he rarely gets something like this in his shop.He knows all about thermisters and t-stats and heaters but generally there is a timer to turn to put in defrost. There are some boards where you hit the light switch 5 times or some where you turn the cold control on and off in certain sequence to engage defrost. But this one didn't have any tech sheet so he is cluless.Generally there is a way but you said there isn't.So how would the tech check it?:)This refrigerator has a computer board, and this is not something you would want to be be testing. Computer board, thermisters and defrost heaters and hi-limit thermostat are all in the defrost system. There is no way to put this ref. into defrost, let it go thru the cycle and return to the cooling mode. I would suggest you obtain professional help on this very difficult system. Pegi

Thanks Pegi. He's had it running for a few day's now and it seems to be fine.He just want's to be for sure before he let's it out to get sold.Let me see if I can find the answer for you. There is a way to test the board but will have to research another tech forum. These ref.s are a joke, so much can go wrong and it just usually pot luck, throw parts at it till somethiong sticks that fixes it. Usally start with testiing the heaters & thermisters.. If they check good the board is the last resort. But give me some time to find you some information.. :)
