GE Refrigerator water dispenser spontaneously flows, flooding house

4 posts in this topic

The water dispenser in my GE GSS25KGMAWW side by side fridge starts flowing without the lever being pushed. Pushing the childproof lock stops the flow. The GE Technician thinks it's the circuit board but isn't 100% sure. Said if it was the valve, the lock wouldn't shut it off. This is like having a ticking time bomb in the house. It's flooded the house twice and though I try to remember to engage the lock, sometimes I forget.

Can this problem be fixed and does it seem like it's the circuit board? If I pay the $300 to have the board replaced will I ever be able to feel confident that this won't happen again anyway? Should I just turn the whole thing off and save the $300?

It seemed simple enough but I wasn't watching him super closely to note how he got the face plate off of the panel and what needed to be hooked up etc.. Would you be able to point me in the right direction?

Do you have any other insight into this problem? The technician said he had never seen it before.
