If you have a PDF that isn't already in the File library here at Appliantology, send it to us by attaching it to the contact form.

GE Refrigerator Class Action Lawsuit Update

Here's an update on this lawsuit from our friends at www.BringGoodThingstoLife.org:

Most people across the country are unaware of the National Class Action lawsuit and Settlement Argreement pertaining to 304 models of GE defective refrigerators. Consumers are for the most part totally unaware that their GE refrigerator is included in a lawsuit. The Settlement Agreement provides for refunds for previously paid repairs, refunds to those who replaced their refrigerator at their own expense, free replacement refrigerators to those who have had three moisture related repairs and continue to have problems, and free extended warranties. GE is doing everything they can to hide this information from the public and slip this lawsuit and Settlement Agreement quietly through the court. We were able to get the deadlines for registering extended to Sept. 4, 2006. Once final approval happens in court, anyone who did not get registered in time will be forever barred from any claim against GE for losses or damages. Please do what you can to help us spread the word. !

Our website has been updated with the latest information. http://www.BringGoodThingsToLife.org We do have an entire new website (much better) that will be uploaded within a day or two.

We know that there are more than 304 models affected, we know that the defects are not limited to just the Bloomingtion, Indiana factory, and we know that the defects continued into 2003 models. Defective doors appear on 2004 and 2005 models. Anyone who has a model not included in the current class action - we want to hear from. We have accumulated substantial evidence of additional models that should have been included in this lawsuit. Please help to spread the word, only 7 weeks remain for hundreds of thousands of people to get their claim forms submitted in time.

We did not initiate this class action; we more or less have been "bird dogging" it so to speak as a Boston Globe reporter put it. If you check out our site, you will get picture.

Greetings to all!

I am Cathy's partner at BringGoodThingsToLife.org.  In browsing the forums, there seems to be the mistaken assumption that you must live in the state of Florida to participate in the General Electric Defective Refrigerator Class Action Settlement.  I cannot stress strongly enough to everyone:

There are no geographic limitations!

Residents of any US state who own (or previously owned) one of the defective refrigerators listed in the settlement and meet the criteria (moisture-related repairs and/or problems), is entitled to benefits.  This is not your 'business as usual class action settlement' where the attorneys get million$ and the plaintiffs get coupons.  Benefits include:

 • reimbursement of previous moisture-related repair bills
 • free repair of current moisture-related problems
 • free refrigerator replacement if you have already had 3 or more moisture-related repairs
 • reimbursement for your purchase of a replacement refrigerator
 • free 1 year (additional) warranty or 1 year extension of an extended warranty

General Electric is making a concerted effort to limit this information (no big surprise).  But we are making a greater effort to beat them at their game.  Our new website should be up no later than this weekend (7/8/06).  But our 'old' site will run until we have the bugs worked out.  You will find information there that will answer just about any question you might have about the Settlement: what to do, when, etc.  You can even download claim forms, copies of the Settlement Agreement, etc.  You can contact us if you have questions.

Finally, I cannot thank Samurai, Pegi, and Jedi enough for all their help in the last year.  ApplianceGuru.com is in the top 25 referring sites to our website after Google, MSN, Yahoo, etc.  Your advice to the many people who have been stuck with these turkeys, gouged by "GE Customer Care" (now there's an oxymoron) is awesome.
