frigidaire refrigerator problems

3 posts in this topic

Appreciate any help. We have 8 frigidaire units in condos and have had problems with 3 of them. Todays problem is neither the fridge or freezer is working at all. The light goes on. The fan in the back goes on. It doesnt seem like the compressor goes on. there is a loud buzzing noise every 5 minutes from what I think is the compressor. Could it be only a part of the compressor that needs replacing or the whole thing or something entirely different. Thanks for any help at all. the model is PLHS237ZA

LCBR.  usually when you get the loud buzzing noise from the compressor it means it's shorted out.  You have a five year warrantee on this model for  the sealed system which would cover the compressor.   You could try a new overload and relay but in what you described,  I don't think it will do any good....Ron

Could also be a fried start relay.  Unplug the fridge, open the compartment cover on the side of the compressor and pull of the relay.  If it rattles when you shake, it's fried.  If you're lucky, the compressor is still serviceable.
