Torn duct

2 posts in this topic

I have a torn duct in my attic. I was told, in leiu of replacing it, to wrap it with tin foil and seal it with duct tape, I did that and no air, or not nearly as much, is coming through the foil, but the air flow has not increased all that much. Is there something else I should try or should I just replace the duct?? And if replacement is needed, is that something I can do myself or should I have a professional work on it??

There is no kinks in the duct and I tried to pull all the loose insulation out of the inside of the duct.
