inside my icemaker above the evaporator there is a metal sticker about 2.5" square that covers some kind of hole on the inside top of the unit.  it feel off on the evaporator which prevented the water from freezing.  i removed the cutter grid and got the sticker out.  i can not make it stick back.  what is the purpose of the sticker covering the hole?  model # GI1500xhs5

From what you are describing it appears to be an electrical shield.   The part number for the shield is 2185690.  You can look up the part and see if it matches the part that fell off....Ron
