too confusing!! i've used the range for over a year,i just moved into the house, the range has been installed in the same place for 2 years.   if the hot indicators illuminate that quickly,i would think everything is o.k., how long is too long to boil water, and how mucj water is to be boiled, what criteria are you comparing this time frame to,what material are your cooking vessels. these elements always cycle on and off- this is normal.

I referred to this person as a "she", not that we would know unless you told us.  But there is something wrong if it worked fine for over a year and started this a month ago.  I still think there is something wrong with the electrical to the range, cutting the burners out when they start drawing a certain amount of amps and coming back on when they cooled off.

Thanks for taking the time to respond to my issue.  I really appreciate your responses.  Do you know of a good website to locate user manuals and wiring diagrams for my model?

You could go to the Maytag site and download the users manuals on line I believe, by model number.  They might be here on this site also under appliance Q&A.

Why doesn't the ceramic glass cooktop on my range get hot enough?
Check the surface controls first to make sure they're set correctly.

Be sure to use flat-bottomed pans that are the right size and shape. Using a pan that's not flat or is too large or too small will prevent your cooktop from heating properly.

If neither of these tips solves your problem, check the voltage to your home to make sure it's not too low

Dear FatMan, HIS house.  I made the mistake of calling him a she.......Would need to see if he had some electrical done at or near the home about the time this started happening???  Just seems like the burners are cutting out when reach a certain amp or voltage draw.  I can see one going bad, but all 4 at once???

check this with a ruler if your pans are not perfectly flat the elements will cycle like you describe. every time i have dealt with this complaint it was because the customers pans were not flat.
