Defrost/Heating Coil - Does anyone have any tips or short cuts on changing this part? mine is bad and needs replacing, it has actually burnt thru at the bottom corner! I will have to wait to Monday to get the part.

also while at it there seems to be a "warm" spot near the top in the wall between the freezer sect. and the fridge sect. ? any known reason for this? is there a component in there used by the defrost?

thanks

Remove the heater and install the new one, easy as that.  As far as the devider, you have mullion heaters that keep that warm so the gaskets will stay warm and not sweat when the humidity is below 90%.  Above that and the box will sweat, nothing to be done.  You may also have a freon loop in there which also helps keep the gaskets warm and dry.

If this is the newer model SxS there is a 2 watt heater that slips onto the cap tube. The cap tube slides thru the wall from the cold control in the refrig section into the freezer section. That 2 watt heater is only suppose to be on in the quick freeze mode. Need model number to know for sure.

The defrost heater you can order right from here now and have it delivered to your door.

My Bad....I did not see the model number at the top. No this does not have that 2 watt heater I mentioned. Just change the defrost heater. Unplug the frig and change it out. Simple. Part number here 449957
