Kenmore Electric Dryer 110.96589210 has trouble starting

17 February 2014 - 11:00 AM

This dryer will not start 90% of the time. The start button buzzes but the drum wont turn (both filled and empty). Sometimes the drum will turn and then it will run for a while with heat but maybe not complete the cycle. It seems to me a high friction problem somewhere in the motor/drum/fan system. I found if I taped the door switch closed, and reached in to give the drum an initial push when I press the start button, it will run for a while, but won't start again even with "help" until the next day.

How can I find out what's causing the problem and replace, lubricate or clean the problem parts?

Haier Dehumidifier model HDN305 won't start

24 May 2013 - 09:53 AM

Hey guys - my 6 year old Haier dehumidifier (HDN305) would not wake up after it's 6 month winter nap - no lights, no fan, no compressior. After verifying it was plugged into a hot outlet (118v) I removed the cover and tested various aspects of the control board connections. The fuse is good and has power (118v). I tried running  with the humidity level/power on/off control in both open & closed states. I also tried the same with the bucket full control and what I think is a copper coil temperature monitor. No respondo in all cases.  Is there anything else to check or any definitive repair I can apply before I send it to the recycle center?

Kenmore Advantage Washer 110.92273100 - Bad Brakes

26 February 2013 - 12:18 PM

This elderly K/M washer still does it's job but has an operational problem that just recently began. At the end of a SPIN cycle the brake grabs so hard and fast that the drum assembly twists violently with a loud bang and the whole machine jumps.  I turned it over and didn't find any obviously broken parts inside or on the floor. Any suggestions? TIA

Whirlpool Electric Dryer (M/N GEW9878PW0) - Must hold PTS in to run

28 August 2012 - 11:52 AM

Greetings Honorable Troubleshooters -- This Whirlpool Gold Ultimate Care II dryer needs the Push To Start switch to be HELD PUSHED IN for it to keep running. If it's let out, the machine stops. Activating and running through the Diagnostic Test Mode does not indicate any problems. What evil spirit has possessed this faithful servant?

25 July 2011 - 11:46 AM

A mouse invaded my range and made his home in the yellow fiberglass insulation between the oven compartment and the rangetop. He's been evicted, but left his tiny turds in the insulation and I'm thinking the kitchen will smell of roasted poop when I run the clean cycle. I want to replace the fiberglass insulation, and wonder if I can use the pink fiberglass normally used in walls (striped of the paper backing of course) or do I need a special high temperature oven fiberglass?
