In Topic: Maytag PAV3360AWW has "filling issues"

23 November 2013 - 10:22 AM

Hello everyone- Started a load of clothes tonight. Machine filled and agitated normally throughout the wash cycle, spun out water normally, but then did not fill with the cold rinse. To make thing a bit more weird, it started agitating normally.Interestingly enough, I tried going back and starting the "wash" cycle, but this time the machine would not start to fill again. I had to go "Amish" and fill with cold water to complete the rinse and again, it spun the water out just like it should. The clothes are in the dryer now. I'm not sure where to start looking for a solution.

Thanks for any ideas you can provide.

The machine is older and has worked pretty well in it's current location The hoses are braided an water is flowing through both. As an experiment I put a small load of rags in this morning and the machine went through the wash cycle and again, wouldn't fill on the rinse after the water spun out. Could this be a timer issue, since the machine restarted normally, filled properly, washed the clothes, spun out the "wash" water and then would not refill. The machine does agitate normally even if there is no water in the rinse cycle. I've turned the machine off and will try to restart in a few hours.

Then again, you might have an off-balance switch. Was the machine shaking badly?

It did shake a bit when it spun the water after the wash cycle. But when I redistributed the load, it seemed to stop shaking, spin the wash water out and refill with the cold rinse water. It was at that point it stopped agitating. To clarify, it was after I unloaded the machine, bailed out most of the water that I accidently hit the button and it started again. I had manually moved the switch to the spin cycle while I was trying to get the machine to start again. It didn't start spinning while set in the regular rinse mode. when it started spinning it was in the spin cycle. I haven't tried to use it since.

"upon further review" The plastic wheel in the center will actually pull out from the shaft. It's like something is keeping the pulley from grabbing the "axle". I had a similar situation with a riding mower-turned out to be an axle spline.

The belt is spinning, but the tub doesn't move. The plastic transmission pulley isn't spinning at all. Could it be the thrush bearing kit? It looks like the transmission costs a bundle when compared to the kit. Thanks again.
