Maytag bravos MVWB300WQ1 throws UL @ 9 mins

13 July 2014 - 09:01 PM

Great Samurai and others,

My Maytag bravos top loading washer is driving me insane. It works absolutely fine until it gets down to 9 minutes. The second it hits 9 mins, it beeps and throws UL on the display. It even does this if the machine is empty. The machine is sitting completely level. It drains fine, starts the slow spin and then throws the error.

What I've done:

Ran self diagnostic, it went through it with no problem whatsoever.

I pulled the basket, cleaned everything up, sanded the shaft and the basket and made sure it moved up and down easily. (When I disassembled, it moved hard) Any help would be greatly appreciated. I've had this machine about 4 years, and this is the first problem I've had.

417.44042400 Wires off motor connector (male)

Hi all,

My Kenmore 417.44042400 has been battling me for about a month. Initially, the speed control board blew, so I swapped it out. Then I ran into intermittent problems where it would not spin unless I started it off by turning the pulley. After I last posted, it started working fine again, so I let it go. Today, it started acting up again. (No spin unless aided) Just for kicks, I pulled the motor plug off, and 2 wires fell right out! I know what the pinouts are, but I have no idea which holes to return them to. One is green, the other is orange w/a black stripe. I'd appreciate any help I can get. I'm attaching a picture.

Frigidaire made Kenmore 417.44042400

Greetings,

My kenmore front loader 417.44042400 has decided to once again engage me in battle. I want to replace it, but my wife insists I fix it. Initially, it had no agitate or spin, and having been through this before, I replaced the speed control board and the next wash cycle was fine. Now, it does everything *except* final spin. The timer either hangs, or it advances until off. If I spin the pulley by hand the motor will slowly spin the drum left and right, but not enter the final spin. Out of 3 loads, it went into the final spin one time. The rest of the time, I get what I described above. I hope I have explained this coherently, and look forward to any help I can get.

Kenmore front load washer 417.44042400

Konichiwa, most verenable Samurai and other appliance ninjas,

For the first time since 2007, my washer has dishonored itself and my family. My wife was running it, and told me it sounded "a bit noisy". After I got home, I did a load of laundry, and it got worse. Alot worse. It runs quietly until it gets to the spin cycle. When it gets there, it starts to thump and bang like it's about to fly apart.

I checked the shocks, they're fine. The springs, etc are also fine. I pulled the clothes out and spun the drum by hand (with the belt off) and it made a little noise. I then checked for movement of the drum itself. While it does not appear to move side to side or front to back, it *does* move up and down. It's almost as if the drum is hanging down a little bit. I haven't torn it down yet, but I'm assuming I have a shot bearing. Any wisdom would be most appreciated!
