Ghost is given up

11 October 2013 - 04:07 PM

I've got an OLD set of Kenmore W/D that has finally given up the ghost...Thinking in terms of energy efficiency, probably time to replace this 20 y/o W/D set.

Any recommendations from the Master Appliantologists with regards to

1) Brands/models to buy

2) Brands/models to avoid.

Konichiwa!

Microwave just died...Sunbeam model SGB8901

17 September 2012 - 09:48 AM

So my daughter states last night that when she closed the door on her microwave two days ago, it just went off. Nothing works, no lights, no front panel LCD display, nothing. There are no blown breakers or fuses in their fuse box.

They tested the outlet and that works fine, and they plugged the microwave into another outlet and it still didn't work.

is there a fusible link or on unit fuse that could have blown?

Thanks all...just throwing the on the forums before advising them to throw the microwave away...

Dishonorable Kenmore Ultra Wash Modely 665-13743k600

03 September 2012 - 12:22 PM

I have a Kenmore 665-13743k600, Ser FT3904514.

The masticator was clogged with gookus. After ensuring a gookus free environment, I finally got the masticator to engage the gear, and ensured that it spun easily.

The lower spray arm appears to be traveling well.

BUT, the washer is VERY noisy, and the upper spray arm doesn't really turn, nor does the one on top of the dishwasher.

The upper rack has two positions where by it can get water to the spray arm...both covered by what appears to be a flap valve. the unused flap valve doesn't appear to be closing well...I've taken it apart, cleaned it and replaced it, but still not much improvment...could this be the cause of both the noise and lack of upper spray arm movement?

Water Heater recommendation

21 February 2011 - 09:11 AM

After using some online tools, it appears that I need a 50 Gallon capacity, 40,000 BTU/Hour minimum sized.

Any brand or model preference?

I was hoping to lay my hands on a Bradford White product, but alas, they don't sell direct to consumers....

Thank you!
