Morning..

I tested the resistance on the element again with 2 different multimeters..ohms are 9.5/10.

Does that mean that the element is going bad because it doesn't have enough resistance and therefore can't generate enough heat? (i.e. if its supposed to be 30/40)

Also, when looking at the element from the (installed) front angle that at about the 5 o'clock position there is a one inch segment that is darker than the rest, as well as at the ends.

thanks,  Bob

OK so here is where I am at..wife is getting hacked as the dishes are piling up and the kitchen looks like it is gutted..uggh.

The heater element continuity tested good, the pump fills up a glass on the upper shelf.   The front panel is off and the control board exposed.  I will say that there is discoloration around a diode and one resistor. ( I am sure I could replace those two items on the pcb if necessary).

so to recap, the machine ran for 22 mins, we could hear water - no problem,  washer then drained out and began flashing.  There was steam coming out from hot water, but the heating element was able to be touched by hand.

It looks like I need more help with doing these two things.

"bad hi-limit thermostat. Or the the heater relay on the control board could be bad, in which case you would replace the control board. Trace the circuit back with your meter and the wiring diagram until you find the missing voltage"
