Kenmore 110.23032101

05 February 2009 - 03:50 PM

Reposted as new per your command honorable besotted Samurai-san.   Appologies to honorable Neil2fish-san for intrusion.     To those who read this please do not do as I did.  The below is the comment I posted to Neil2fish explaining that his day was better than mine.  The below was written in the wee hours of 2/1 and early hours of 2/2 and is hereforth dubbed part one of the on going saga of the break dancin and thumping of my Kenmore 110.23032101 that started about 1300 hours on 2/1/9 while preparing munchies to take to the bossman's party.

Well at least your sunday was a little better than mine. I had just finished makin my lip smacking black bean salsa and ran to store to get a couple of bags of chips and get sweetie a bouquet of flowers to be my chauffer. When I got back sweetie said the washer was acting funny. My kenmore whirlpool washer decided to turn up the thump and break dance around the basement about 1 pm sunday afternoon. Sweetie wasnt happy the noise was interfering with her nap. I was fussing at her for putting in too much and loading it off balance. I redistributed the clothes a couple of times and got wash spun moslty dry and tried it one more time. It started thumpin and dancing more and sounded like it was going to fly apart. So I put the laundry in the dryers and proceded to see if I could find the problem. I appoligised to sweetie for accusing her of poor laundry practices. The flowers helped some. I told her some of the springs or balance thingamajigs must have come loose. Moved the washer to get to the back. Saw some black dust and pieces of plastic but no water or no oil. Swept and cleaned it up. It took me about an hour to get the back off and the stuff disconnected from it. I saw 3 springs were connected and thought there was another but needed to get the top and sides off to be sure. That was another couple of hours to get the top off. I'm gettin a antsy and grab a longneck and a shot of shine. I never did figure how to remove the lid from the top. Then I couldnt figure out how to get the sides off. Getting kind of excited and in a rush as me and sweetie needed to be at the bossmans house for some partying. By now it is after 5 pm and I tried to lift the machine to look under it. Needed sweetie to help but knew she didnt want to leave the game. But grabbed another longneck and a shot of rye and took the risk to get her to help. Saw the other spring and it was ok. Motor looked new, transmission had some fine yellow dry surface rust but bare new metal too. Little black dust on top of tranny. Clutch drum shinny no rust no oil. Nothing looked bent or broke. This took about 2 minutes. Told sweetie maybe it was just big load. She reminded me that she had mentioned it thumping to me for about 2 months. Well I dont see anything major probably just load too big. So by about 6pm had it back on and back off twice. I decided to try a small load. Happened to notice a small plastic wire hold down clip I had left off. Took back back loose the 3rd time and put the clip on. Its about 7pm now forget the party called the boss got no answer left a message washer is on the fritz I wont be there. Tried small load and it ran ok. Slid washer back in place. Got another longneck and cleaned up. Found splash guard I left off the back. Got another shot of shine and rye. Pulled washer back out, took back off put splash guard on put back back on put washer back in place. Did another small load washer ran ok. Well maybe it was just over loaded. came back upstairs saw replay of last play game over. Might as well hit the pooter and google thumpin dancin 110.23032101. Found some info on your site and sears about some plastic pads. Saw your nice tear down info saw i was the ingenius idiot remover of backs and taker offer of tops. Well why didnt them sides just fall off when sweetie held the washer tilted back and front while I was underneath. Why didnt I get my head crushed? Part 2 of the saga tomorrow.
