Topics I've Started

GE Monogram ZDIS150WSSC high capacity ice maker not making ice

30 March 2013 - 01:21 PM

I'm at my inlaws......machine was working fine and apparently came home to an empty machine. It makes noises like it's filling and draining but still doesn't make ice.

Compressor coils cleaned. They ran vinegar and water through the reservoir. We purchased the green cleaner as well but have not tried it. I just checked the machine and the CLEAN light is lit.

Not sure what to try next.

Bosch nexxt premium dryer will not run, but turns on!

08 March 2013 - 09:44 PM

After a little experiment in which a heavy item was placed into the dryer accidentally and dented the drum like hail damage......which probably did something to the dryer, all I get is in audible click when I try to run it. Everything turns on as normal lights up etc., And instead of starting the machine just makes a click noise. Lint filter light blinks too.....

Model WTMC632SUS/02

Help before wife kills me. This one is on me!

Hot Samsung TAX4DNCWH mini fridge; relay and overload kit discontinued!

06 February 2013 - 07:53 PM

OK, this sucks. Out at the horse barn we have a fridge in our saddle and tack room that suddenly croaked. I whipped it around and the compressor is hot to the touch but no action whatsoever going on.....I pulled the relay and overload and looked them up here at Repairclinic:

The overload rattles when you shake it. Nothing smells burned. Relay seems OK. I guess I can test it but I'd rather replace both.

I can't get these parts, it seems.

Now what do I do? Oh great experts I beseech thee........

My Miele Solaris died. How to test the motor for power, etc.?

02 August 2012 - 01:31 PM

My Miele Solaris vac died on me today and it could be the cordreel assembly, a power switch, or the motor itself. I've done a motor re-install before but it was dead and therefore a straight up replacement. Id like to test the vac with my Flukemeter to see what's up.

Anyone good with vacuum repair and voltage meters? I never quite know how to set up the Fluke to measure. Just don't use it enough.

I don't want to just start replacing stuff on a $800 vacuum. The cordreel died on another Miele S3 we have, and the motor was in my parents' S3.

Northland GS48-XIN 5NFN50314-2 Designer Series from hell.....

12 October 2010 - 09:02 AM

I'm trying to help my parents with the EXTREMELY finicky Northland side by side unit.

The door seals keep tearing and condensation leaks from all doors. If you open the freezer side doors (upper or lower) immediately the ice on the frame starts dripping, there's tons of condensation where the seals rest, and water basically will run to the floor if you keep it open more than 30 seconds.

Chronic historical issues with this unit are:

Continuous failure of lightbulbs and/or light switches.

Compressor replaced twice.

Ice maker replaced three times.

Currently we are trying to determine why the newest ice maker keeps stopping ice production. Coils on top mount compressor have been cleaned and that started ice maker back up for about a day. Then it stopped again. There is quite a lot of heat produced up there, so they often leave the panel off hoping to cool it. Also the compartment above unit is now very clean, as are coils on compressor.

Last, the water supply feeding the ice maker unit has a very tight 90+ degree bend in it where it enters the actual ice making "head"....tried to take a pic but I wasn't successful.

The unit is 48" wide so they have tried very hard NOT to replace it completely, as a new unit from the makers they like, has been difficult to find and fit into the existing custom cabinetry. Keeping this one running would be ideal.

Northland is pretty unrepentant about all the failed components, etc. and the service company is as well at this point.
