Thanks, y'all. Yes, I read in the manual that it has pauses, but a pause of 18 hours is a little long, I think. I'll call it in.

OK, it's fixed now, thanks to PM help from Master TTH in Georgia (may his buttcrack keep shining at the housewives for all eternity) and to the others who responded here to the thread.

Thanks to everyone who responded. I'm going to stick with the apprenticeship and check in here when other appliances fall out.

OK, I removed, disassembled and cleaned the water inlet valve. It filled the tub on the Pots & Pans prewash cycle and ran fine. Then it drained the prewash water and failed to refill the tub for the wash cycle, it just skipped the filling and after a time, started trying to pump water for the wash cycle with an empty tub.

I repeated the removal and disassembly of the water inlet valve and put the valve back on for another try. It repeated the same foolishness with the prewash filling and the draining before the wash cycle.

I'm back to where I started.
